Each year the World Famous Gunfighters create a show for the community during Dodge City Day's. The thirty-minute show entitled the Big Gun Fight is held during the month of August at 12:00 noon. Rehearsals for the Big Gunfight is held a week before the festive event inviting past gunfighters to attend. Many members of the community participate, including those who have been past gunfighters, individuals from the variety show and some family members dress in authentic clothing to participate in the event.
The museum sets up bleachers for the event and the entire Front Street running the length of the museum becomes a live stage for over 500 spectators. |
Interviews & PreparationGunfighters and participating members of the Big Gunfight arrive at 8:00 A.M. to begin preparation for the 12:00 noon event.
